Leftover ‎– “Response” EP
Released by the interesting label Statik Entertainment – STATIK ENTERTAINMENT 24.
Leftover is Jussi Lindblad, and he produces some seriously deeeep Dub Techno. He blends the esthetics of main room crushing production with spacial technics commonly found with artists such as Rhythm & Sound, Echospace and Marko Fürstenberg.
Leftover holds his own in the ring with other Dub Tek heavy hitters, but in no way falls short. This first release is an unbelievable demonstration of artistic merit and sonic depth.
A must own for any fan of the Dub Techno genre and of well developed electronic music.

Ulf Lohmann – ‘Because’
Released on the dynamic German label Kompakt – KOM 31.
This is an interesting release as a standalone album, and within the backlog of Ulf Lohmann releases. Less emotive then his later material and most definitely more ‘upbeat’. The A-Side in particular presents the listener with some very light hearted music.
The B Side is a bit more ‘ambient’, but does not reach as far into your heart strings as does his later releases. Ulf seems to explore more space with this album and does so with a lighter sonic palette.
When played in succession with his other releases, this LP does leave you with a sense of beginning and awakening. There is more percussion and playfulness to be heard and each song gently falls into one another. Over all this is a contemplative release by a master of emotional ambience, and a bench mark in the Kompakt catalog.

Dettinger “Blond”
A beautiful and passive sounding EP.
Tasteful with his sonic touches, Dettinger really shines with this release.

Gramm – Personal Rock
Gramm is Jan Jelinek. His first LP “Personal Rock’ is a masterpiece of Electronic Music. Extreme deep ambience merges with Click-Tech and Psychedelic Melodic-Drone. Skillfully crafted, each song is a stand alone experience of epic sonic proportions.
Though each song yields a full and unique listening experience, there is also beautiful coherency to the entire LP. It flows and develops track by track, transforming into a ‘Personal Rock’ album that will leave your feet dancing and your mind traveling.
Jan has been producing music for over 10 years under many pseudonyms. He has only released one album under the moniker of Gramm, but this LP sets a standard and a blueprint for what eventually became a defining aspect of the IDM Genre.
“Personal Rock” is a warm and melodic LP, even though a strong majority of the sounds are electronic and cold in nature. Jan has the uncanny ability to take the edge and clip of electronics and seemingly transform them into an organic and familiar dimensional space.
This Album is essential listening!

Gas – Königsforst

Released in 1998 by the avant-garde label ‘Mille Plateaux ’.

Emotive, powerful and full of longing, this album is a modern legend.

It is the soundtrack of deeper understanding.

Rhythm & Sound w/ Cornell Campbell – King In My Empire

A wonderfully deep and beautiful song by the German masters of Dub Tek and a Reggae legend.

Massive sonic production merges with Cornell Campbell’s soulful and heart felt voice and lyrics.

A masterpiece of timeless Dub Tek.

Electric Birds – Strata Frames
One of the most genius albums every produced and recorded. Truly Inter-Dimensional music.

Nick Rapaccioli – EP 1

I found this used for a $1.99. Recognizing the label “Vertical Form”, I was compelled to purchase it. In the past I associated the label’s sound with more of an IDM angle and figured it was going to be at the very least, interesting.

I brought it home, cleaned the record and played. it.

The music that erupted from that vinyl totally and pleasantly shocked me. It was amazing and extremely Duby. The dub elements were original and very “futuristic” sounding. Touches of data step-IDM fill out each track and there is even some Minimal moments.

A great first release by an Avant-garde Music label.

Markus Guentner – Express Yourself

This beautiful song can be found on the sublime Music Compilation ‘Pop Ambient 2003’ released by Kompakt.

Markus regularly shares his compositional prowess with the Pop Ambient series, but this track is a special standout, deserving of extra attention.

Lush and gorgeous, this track can take you into new areas of mental awareness and relaxation.

Anders Ilar‘Everdom’

After years of listening to this artist’s sonic art, I can honestly say that I feel this is his masterpiece.
Each track is infused with lovely musical - existentialism, that is emotive in a truly progressive manner.
The tonal palette is heavenly, warm and brimming with a full spectrum of natural light.
Songs like ‘Make Believe’, ‘Rare Islands’ and ‘Illusion Of A Summer breeze’ fulfill any expectation one may have of the electronic musical genre.
Everdom is one of the most beautiful albums ever produced by a human, on the planet Earth.

Mokira – Time Axis Manipulation
Mokira’s “Time Axis Manipulation” is the eight full-length album from Swedish experimental dub/drone act Mokira; other wise know as Andreas Tilliander.
This release is sonically akin to falling off of a cliff with no end in site. Thunderous sonic-depths are explored as your  temporal awareness is taken into new spacial understanding.

Ulf Lohmann "On Frozen Fields"

One of the most delicate and beautiful B sides ever pressed to vinyl.
Each track unfolds with melancholy and longing. The tonal palette is airy and orchestral, with dreamy like reverbs.

The A side consist of two minimal tracks with hints of mysterious grime.
When I listen to this artist, it is his ambient work that I am seeking out.
